According to Nabanna sources, Chief Minister Subhendu Adhikari had earlier hinted at giving this responsibility to Mithun Chakraborty at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Film Center in New Town in memory of Mahanayak Uttam Kumar. Similarly, an official notification was issued today by the IAS Cell of the State Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department (P&AR). The directive signed by the State Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Agarwal clearly states that actor Mithun Chakraborty has been appointed to this post with the respectful approval of Governor RN Ravi. He will continue in this post in exchange for an annual token honorarium of 1 taka. The Information and Culture Department is directly under the control of Chief Minister Subhendu Adhikari. Mithun Chakraborty will now work as his chief advisor and advisor in that department. The main aim of this appointment is to elevate the overall infrastructure of Bengal's film industry (Tollywood), theater, traditional folk art and culture, which has been stagnant or fading in the past, to the international level. The government has already started the work of building a world-class 'Uttam Kumar Film Center' in New Town at a cost of 25 crore rupees. In addition, up to 30 percent government subsidy (Film Subsidy) to increase the shooting of regional films in the state and attract investment, and the long-term blue-print being prepared for promoting various tourism sectors including the Sundarbans through films, is believed by informed circles to play a very important role in the background of Mithun Chakraborty's long film career experience. This new innings of the legendary actor, who won the 'Dadasaheb Phalke' award in Delhi, has created a new equation in the political and entertainment circles. Until now, people have seen Mithun Chakraborty only as a political campaigner at public meetings, but this time, his inclusion in the administrative level of Nabanna with the status of a cabinet minister is considered a skillful and historic masterstroke by the new government.
