BS News Agency New Delhi, 4 July 2025: In a historic moment steeped in tradition and national pride, Hon'ble President of India Smt. Draupadi Murmu formally launched the 134th Indian Oil Durand Cup from the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre (RBCC) today.  On this occasion, he flagged off the three prestigious Durand Cup trophies of Asia's oldest and India's most prestigious football tournament.

On this occasion, President Murmu said that the Durand Cup is a living symbol of India's football tradition and the commitment of the armed forces towards sports.  He said, “Football holds a special place in the hearts of millions of people. It is not just a game, it is an emotion. Football is a symbol of skill, tolerance and collective effort. Events like the Durand Cup not only encourage the spirit of the game but also provide a platform for the development of the next generation of footballers. He lauded the role of the armed forces in keeping the spirit of the Durand Cup alive and encouraging it.”
