Sanchita Chatterjee Kolkata: The week-long Forest Festival, initiated by the state government, began on July 14. Saplings are distributed among the people on this occasion to make the general public aware of the need to make the environment green. As a part of this, a tree plantation program was organized today by the Press Club Kolkata. Saplings were distributed to members and media representatives. At a function on this occasion, Assistant Divisional Officer of the Forest Department Anind Guha Thakurta, Superintendent Officer Prabir Chatterjee, Chairman of the State Minorities Commission and former MP Ahmed Hasan Imran, Club Secretary Kingshuk Pramanik, among others, mentioned the dangers of the current global warming and called on everyone to come forward to protect the environment by making it green.
