city-based socio-cultural organization, will hold the fourth edition of the
preview show 2025 of Durga puja Art (pada) between September 18 and 22, 2025
with several new features.
the pioneering initiative, which offers
global visitors an exclusive first look at the rich offerings of Kolkata's
Durga puja before the formal launch of the festivities, has been playing an
important role in establishing Durga puja as the world's biggest public Art
festival since 2022.
"the preview show of Durga Puja Art is
much more than a pre-puja event. it is a living bridge between Bengal's
traditions and the global stage," said Mr. Dhrubajyoti Bose Suva,
secretary, MassArt at press conference.
Mr. Kaushik Basak, IAS, special commissioner & e.o, director of culture, information and cultural affairs dept, govt. of west Bengal,
Ms. Hamitant Banerji, PHD, professor, dept.
of architecture and regional planning, IIT Kharagpur and Dr. Jayantna Sengupta,
historian and director of Alipore museum & a special delegate from UNESCO,
were present at the media interaction.
the idea of PSDPA, enjoying the support of
UNESCO since its first edition in 2022, is rooted in the mission to globalise
Bengal's Durga puja Art and build cultural bridges by bringing together
national and international delegates, Art lovers, and cultural connoisseurs to
witness the collective creativity of community artisans, who are repositories
of the region's cultural legacy.
this year's preview show will unveil a
landmark UNESCO MassArt creative partnership, heralding a new chapter in
Bengal's artistic journey. the autumn Art fair, to be held at the iconic
Alipore museum between September 18 and 22, promises to be a game changer for
Bengal's community artisans.
the fair will showcase Art objects --
aligned with the respective themes of the 24 iconic Durga puja Art venues and
crafted by the community artisans -- that delegates and dignitaries can
purchase at the fair.

besides creating a platform for b2b and b2c
tie-ups, which will surely augment income opportunities for the artisans, the
fair will also pave the way for Bengal's community Art to get recognition at
leading global expositions such as the India Art fair, Art Dubai, and Art
Basel.
thus, the 2025 edition of PSDPA will take
Durga Puja Art to the global arena and create a market for the art objects from
Bengal. this first-of-its-kind initiative organized with the support of the
wbhidco and the department of information & cultural affairs - will add a
powerful new dimension to the preview show of Durga Puja Art, 202
the autumn Art fair of 2025 will witness
another ground-breaking initiative as UNESCO-in association with IIT Kharagpur
and MassArt-will roll out a programme to enhance accessibility in 24 iconic
Durga puja Art venues, ensuring seamless experiences for specially abled
visitors and senior citizens across 24 iconic Durga puja Art installations in
the city.
"we at MassArt are committed to
preserve Bengal's cultural heritage and honour the dedication of community
artisans. at the same time, we also want the world to experience the soul of
Bengal before the first dhaak beats of puja. the PSDPA is the product of these
twin objectives. with UNESCO's continued partnership and the support of
wbhidco, I&CA, and the creative energy of our artists, we are confident of
transforming Kolkata into an open-air gallery where every Art installation will
tell a story and every craft will find a global audience," said Mr. Dhrubajyoti Bose suvo, secretary, MassArt.
