Sanchita Chatterjee, BS News Agency: According to police sources, a suspicious individual was apprehended late last night in the Shankarpur area of Basirhat police station. Upon searching him, police recovered 1250 bottles of banned cough syrup in sacks. The market value of the recovered cough syrup is over one lakh rupees. He was carrying this large quantity of cough syrup with the intention of smuggling it into Bangladesh. The police's vigilance led to the recovery of the contraband. The smuggler has been identified as Hadiur Zaman Sardar, a resident of Jinka village under Matia police station. During police interrogation, he confessed to being involved in this illegal activity for a long time. The accused was arrested and produced before the Barasat District Court on Thursday.
