Kynan had the title to win on the conluding day of the trials, but missed his final target, resulting in both Prithviraj and himself tying at 26 hits after the regulation 30-targets. The shoot-off tested their resilience and the senior pro prevailed after Kynan blinked first, this time on his seventh shoot-off target.
Prithviraj had also topped the qualification round on countback with a score of 118 while Ahvar took the second spot and Kynan, qualified fifth with a score of 116.
Delhi’s Kirti Gupta won the Trap women T2 trial, edging Madhya Pradesh’s Pragati Dubey 24-23 in the final. Haryana’s Vidhi Singh was third. That result meant that both the national top spots in women’s trap now lie with Madhya Pradesh shooters, with Pragati rising to number one and state mate Neeru following her in second place. Kirti’s good performance at the trials meant she also made it to the top three in the national rankings.
There were two more final shoot-offs at the Trap trials on the day. First Sabeera Haris in the Trap Women Junior T2 final, needed just one shot to clinch the title from Addya Katyal and later in the Junior Men’s T2 final, another Madhya Pradesh shooter Syed Ahyaan Ali outlasted Tamil Nadu’s Yugan SM 5-4 to claim the crown.
