A Major Blow for Humayun! Owaisi Walks Out Just Before the Polls.

Sanchita Chatterjee. BS News Agency: Humayun Kabir, chief of the 'Am Janata Unnayan Dal' (Common People's Development Party), has suffered a major setback ahead of the Assembly elections. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has announced the dissolution of his party's alliance with Humayun Kabir's outfit. He stated that his party would contest the elections in Bengal independently. The party made this announcement via a social media post. The state is currently in an uproar over a sting operation video released by the Trinamool Congress just days before the Assembly elections. The video released by the Trinamool contains highly controversial remarks regarding the very demand for the construction of the Babri Masjid—an issue that has kept Humayun Kabir in the headlines for days on end. Despite his claims that these allegations were false, Humayun has now faced a severe blow. Owaisi announced the decision to break the alliance on Friday—the very day after this incident unfolded on Thursday.

In a post on 'X' (formerly Twitter) on Friday, AIMIM stated: "The information revealed by Humayun Kabir has exposed the helpless plight in which the Muslims of Bengal currently find themselves. AIMIM cannot be associated with any statement that casts doubt upon the dignity of Muslims. Effective today, AIMIM has withdrawn its alliance with Kabir's party." The post further added: "The Muslims of Bengal constitute one of the poorest, most neglected, and oppressed communities in the region. Despite decades of secular governance, nothing substantial has been done for them. AIMIM's policy regarding contesting elections in any state is to ensure that marginalized communities acquire an independent political voice. We will contest the Bengal elections independently, and we will not enter into any alliances with any other party in the future."
