Sanchita Chatterjee, BS News Agency: Artemis II makes a record-breaking return to Earth. On Saturday, it executed a safe splashdown in the Pacific Ocean. Artemis II had carried four NASA astronauts to a distance of 406,778 kilometers from Earth.
**The Four Astronauts**
Of the four astronauts on the Artemis II mission, three are American, and one is Canadian. The crew members are Christina Koch, Victor Glover, Jeremy Hansen, and Reid Wiseman. This historic journey spanned 10 days, during which the spacecraft traveled around the Moon.

**The Lunar Mission**
During the mission, the astronauts orbited the Moon. They also captured stunning images of the lunar surface and the Earth rising above the horizon. These moments evoked memories of previous lunar missions; however, the utilization of modern, high-quality technology has set this mission apart entirely from its predecessors.
**The Critical Phase of the Mission**
The most critical phase of this mission was the return to Earth. Traveling at speeds exceeding 40,000 kilometers per hour, the spacecraft endured extreme temperatures before executing a safe splashdown in the ocean. This successful return demonstrated the robustness of the Orion heat shield and the recovery systems. NASA officials have hailed this mission as a pivotal step toward the next phase of lunar exploration—a phase that includes landing astronauts on the Moon under the Artemis program.
