Sanchita Chatterjee, BS News Agency: Ever since the election results were declared in the state, allegations have surfaced that numerous Trinamool leaders—both prominent and minor—are switching allegiance overnight to join the BJP. However, the BJP leadership has issued a stern message from the very outset to curb this sudden rush of defections. In fact, the BJP leadership has even issued directives to temporarily suspend the induction of members from other political parties. Given this context, will the BJP adopt a selective approach—distinguishing between 'good' and 'bad'—when considering the induction of Trinamool leaders? If the doors are indeed opened in the future for Trinamool leaders willing to switch sides, whom will the party ultimately choose to accept? On Saturday in Delhi, State BJP President Samik Bhattacharya addressed precisely this question.

Samik Bhattacharya stated, "For those Trinamool leaders accused of theft and corruption, the BJP's doors remain closed. However, there are indeed some good people within the Trinamool ranks—individuals who, under situational pressure, were unable to speak out, or who faced repercussions for doing so. If such individuals knock on the BJP's door, the party will certainly give their request due consideration. Nevertheless, even they must wait for the doors to be opened."

Incidentally, immediately following the announcement of the election results, Samik Bhattacharya had also issued a stern warning to his own party leaders and workers. Amidst allegations surfacing from various parts of the state—ranging from the forceful occupation of Trinamool party offices to the physical assault of Trinamool leaders—the State BJP President urged his party members to exercise restraint. Samik Bhattacharya further issued a stern warning that any leader or party worker who failed to adhere to the party's directives would face expulsion from the organization.

In the wake of the election results, words of praise for the BJP have been heard from the lips of numerous defeated Trinamool candidates. Additionally, many other Trinamool leaders have openly voiced their dissent against their own party, thereby paving the way for their potential defection to the BJP. Ultimately, it remains to be seen for whom the BJP will eventually choose to open its doors.
