Several key Trinamool leaders were spotted at the administrative meeting chaired by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. The internal conflict within the Trinamool party appears to be deepening further. On one hand—barely a month after the electoral defeat—speculation regarding the party symbol and leadership is at its peak; on the other, Trinamool MLAs—one after another—are attending the Chief Minister's administrative meeting at Nabanna, including those who belong neither to the so-called "Mamata-loyalist" camp nor to the "rebel" faction. In a move that came as a virtual surprise, leaders such as Firhad Hakim and Kunal Ghosh entered Nabanna to attend the administrative meeting. This development has further intensified political discourse within political circles, as this scenario is virtually unprecedented; for the past 15 years, MLAs from the opposition camp had not even received invitations to administrative meetings. Amidst this backdrop, the West Bengal Legislative Assembly has witnessed a series of dramatic developments unfolding since Wednesday morning. Shortly after 10:00 AM, Trinamool's rebel MLAs began arriving at the Assembly one by one. Subsequently, a meeting of these rebel Trinamool legislators commenced in the Assembly's Nausher Ali Hall. At the conclusion of the meeting, the rebel MLAs submitted a written proposal—on plain paper—to Assembly Speaker Rathindranath Basu, nominating individuals for various office-bearer positions within their legislative party. Out of the 80 Trinamool MLAs, 58 legislators specifically proposed the name of the "expelled" Ritabrata Banerjee as the Leader of the Opposition. They submitted a formal letter to the Assembly Speaker to this effect and provided their written signatures in support of the proposal. Furthermore, the rebel camp sent a letter to the Speaker asserting, "We are the real Trinamool." This claim has further heightened political tensions. Meanwhile, several prominent Trinamool leaders were observed attending the administrative meeting convened by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. Leaders including Firhad Hakim, Kunal Ghosh, Nayna Banerjee, Javed Ahmed Khan, and Ashok Deb were present at the meeting held at Nabanna. Most significantly, MLAs Ritabrata Banerjee and Sandipan Saha also attended the Chief Minister's meeting. It now remains to be seen in which direction the internal tug-of-war within the Trinamool party will turn in the days to come; only time will tell how—or if—the Trinamool party ultimately survives. In 1998, breaking away from the Congress, Mamata Banerjee founded the Trinamool Congress. This was followed by her rise to power in West Bengal in 2011—a victory succeeded by a string of subsequent triumphs. She ushered in a "Green Revolution" in West Bengal, effectively erasing every last trace of the "Red" era. Yet, just twenty-eight days after suffering a crushing defeat in the 2026 Assembly elections, the party finds itself in this dire state. In effect, this twenty-eight-year-old party has collapsed like a house of cards. And amidst the looming fear of losing its "Twin Flowers" election symbol, the Trinamool Congress has immediately dissolved all of its organizational committees.
