Sanchita Chatterjee, BS News Agency: Allegations: Aditi, the then MLA of Rajarhat-Gopalpur and her husband, transferred property worth at least Rs 100 crore anonymously and in the name of relatives and acquaintances before the 2026 assembly elections.
The Calcutta High Court has granted anticipatory bail to former Trinamool MLA Aditi Munshi. But the anticipatory bail plea of her husband, Trinamool councilor Debraj Chakraborty, has been rejected by the High Court. On Wednesday, Justice Joy Sengupta ordered that both of them should cooperate in the investigation. Allegations: Aditi, the then MLA of Rajarhat-Gopalpur and her husband, transferred property worth at least Rs 100 crore anonymously and in the name of relatives and acquaintances before the 2026 assembly elections. Singer Aditi became an MLA from Rajarhat-Gopalpur constituency in the 2021 assembly elections on a Trinamool ticket. Her husband Devraj is known to be an influential councilor of Bidhannagar Municipality. In the last 5 years, there have been allegations of property disproportionate to the couple's income, money laundering, etc. Trinamool candidate Aditi has been accused of understating the amount of property in the election affidavit.
Apart from this, the political couple is accused of amassing huge property in the Bidhannagar area through extortion, running a syndicate, and land grabbing. Recently, the state has claimed in the Calcutta High Court that Aditi had a bank account in Kalimpong. But before the elections, all the money was removed from several other bank accounts except that account. It is also said that two people known to be close to Devraj have been arrested. The councilor himself is also accused in a case of post-poll violence in 2021. In the previous hearing, the court had said that the political couple cannot be arrested till June 19.
