Rachna has issued a statement regarding this matter. She said, "At that time, everyone was deeply distressed by the traumatic turn of events. I, too, became overwhelmed with emotion while protesting against that horrific incident. Consequently, I inadvertently mentioned her name—something I should not have done." She further noted that in the video currently being discussed, it is clearly visible that she had broken down in tears. She added that she simply could not come to terms with the fact that a young doctor's life had been cut short in such a manner. However, Rachna stated that she would no longer speak on this issue; her lawyer would handle all further communication. Why is the complainant pursuing police action regarding the RG Kar incident, which occurred two years ago? According to sources, the complainant had actually attempted to lodge a complaint against Rachna Banerjee at the very time the incident occurred. However, no action was taken against Rachna at that time.
Incidentally, in the written complaint, the complainant has alleged that the accused—the celebrity MP—shared a video message in which she mentioned the name of the young doctor who was raped and murdered at the RG Kar Hospital. It is alleged that she mentioned the victim's name multiple times in that video—an act that is strictly prohibited by law.
