Sanchita Chatterjee, BS News Agency: Cricket has been a bit on the back burner due to the World Cup. Still, many were keeping an eye on the first T20I between India and Ireland. Vaibhav Suryavanshi would have become India's youngest international cricketer if he had been in the playing XI in the first match against Ireland. Sachin Tendulkar holds this record since he made his debut against Pakistan in 1989 at the age of 16 years and 205 days. Vaibhav was 15 years and 91 days old on the day of the Ireland match on Friday. Vaibhav has captured all the attention of Indian cricket for a long time. This left-handed opener has played incredible innings with the bat for age-based cricket, domestic cricket, IPL, and most recently, the India A team during its tour of Sri Lanka. He is constantly breaking one record after another. Impressed by his superhuman performance, the selectors were forced to call Vaibhav to the team at the age of 15. Ever since Vaibhav was called up to India's squad for the tour of Ireland and England, everyone has been waiting to see his record. India played without Vaibhav in the first match of the series against Ireland on Friday. He was seen practicing for a long time on Thursday, the day before the match.

There, he was talking to Gautam Gambhir and other senior Indian coaching staff. India's new T20 captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to field in Friday's match. After the toss, everyone was curious whether Vaibhav would be in the team? Iyer replied, "Unfortunately not. He is a great player, but we have some extraordinary players in our team who have performed well for us, so we are counting on them. When the time comes, he (Vaibhav) will definitely get a chance. Realistically, Vaibhav will have to wait longer to set a record. India will travel to England after playing two T20 matches in Ireland. They will play 5 T20s and 3 ODIs there. Sachin's 36-year-old record will change hands as soon as he takes the field in any match on the tour.
