Bibhash Lodh, BS News Agency: Which districts are forecast to receive heavy rain today? Yesterday, the entirety of South Bengal was practically baking in stifling heat; discomfort levels had peaked due to the oppressive, muggy weather. However, the weather shifted dramatically as Friday morning broke. Intense storms and torrential rain began in Kolkata and adjacent districts at the crack of dawn, bringing immediate relief to the residents of South Bengal. According to the Alipore Weather Office, this spell of intermittent storms and rain is expected to continue throughout the day across several districts of the state.

**Yellow Alert Issued for Kolkata: Inclement Weather Since Morning**

A 'Yellow Alert' has been issued for Kolkata starting this morning. Alipore's forecast predicts light to moderate rainfall in various parts of the metropolis over the next few hours. Along with the rain, gusty winds blowing at speeds of 30 to 40 km/h are likely. Storms and rain have been raging in Hooghly, Medinipur, and Purulia since the early hours.

While rain arrived in Kolkata later in the morning, the western districts faced the brunt of the storm much earlier. A Yellow Alert was issued for Hooghly, West Medinipur, and Purulia starting at 3:10 AM. These three districts are experiencing even stronger winds than Kolkata. The weather office reports moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds of 40 to 50 km/h and intense lightning. High alert for coastal and border districts.

This storm system has also impacted coastal and border-adjacent districts. A 'High Alert' was issued for South 24 Parganas and Jhargram for a two-to-three-hour window starting at 5 AM. These areas are also likely to experience gusty winds (30–40 km/h) and rain accompanied by lightning. Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall has also commenced in the neighboring district of North 24 Parganas. In South Bengal, there is a higher likelihood of rain today in Hooghly, North 24 Parganas, Bankura, Purba Bardhaman, Paschim Bardhaman, Nadia, and Murshidabad. Meanwhile, heavy rain is forecast for the North Bengal districts of Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, and Alipurduar today.
