Plot to flee to Bangladesh! NIA declares Saokat a 'fugitive'; information shared with BSF. Where is Saokat?

BS News Agency: The NIA is searching for the prime accused in the Bhangar explosion case—a former Trinamool MLA from Canning East. Since Thursday morning, the central investigative agency has been conducting searches at the Trinamool leader's residence. While his son—accused of river-sand theft—has been detained, the father—accused of fish theft—remains missing. Sources indicate that Saokat had plotted to cross the river and escape to Bangladesh, though the plan failed. Rumors suggest he is currently in hiding at a relative's house; all three of his mobile phones are switched off. Amidst this, the NIA has declared Saokat a fugitive. To prevent him from leaving the country, the agency has already shared all relevant details about the accused with the Border Security Force (BSF). A massive explosion occurred in the Bamunia area of Bhangar's Chaltaberia region prior to the West Bengal Assembly elections, resulting in one fatality and injuries to several others. The NIA has recently intensified its investigation into the incident. A Trinamool leader named Ahidul Islam was arrested some time ago in connection with the case. On Thursday, multiple NIA teams raided Bhangar as part of the probe. One team searched several locations, including the residence and party office of former Canning East Trinamool MLA Saokat Molla. However, Saokat reportedly left the area before the search began, forcing investigators to wait outside his home for a considerable time. Later, investigating officers entered the house with the Trinamool leader's son; the son was subsequently arrested.

Locals claim Saokat was last spotted wearing red clothing, riding pillion on a motorcycle towards Chunakhali in the direction of Basanti. He had planned to cross the river and flee to Bangladesh, as the Dadberia ferry terminal in North 24 Parganas lies just across from the Basanti ferry terminal, placing the Bangladesh border within close proximity. However, reports suggest that locals recognized Saokat and blocked his path. Sensing the situation turning against him, he reportedly headed towards a local madrasa. It was suspected that he was hiding inside the madrasa, and the NIA received this information. Subsequently, the NIA and central forces conducted overnight searches across the madrasa, the surrounding area, and even the nearby forest; however, there was no trace of ‘Machchore’. Investigative agencies are making every effort to ensure that Shawkat cannot flee to Bangladesh.
