Amidst this dire situation, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a very strict warning for 22 states of the country. It has been reported that the monsoon will be much more active than normal in northwest and central India for the next 3 to 4 days. Continuous heavy to very heavy rains are predicted in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Gujarat, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and several states of the northeast.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for the residents of Delhi and NCR region on July 30 due to heavy rain and severe thunderstorms. Along with dense clouds in the sky, there is a strong possibility of thunder and lightning. On July 31, Delhi's maximum temperature may be 34 degrees Celsius and minimum 26 degrees Celsius, where the sky is cloudy with a possibility of drizzle. The IMD has said that similar weather conditions may continue on August 1. On the other hand, the weather in Rajasthan has also taken a very dangerous turn due to the influence of the active southwest monsoon. From July 30 to August 2, moderate to heavy rain has been warned in many areas of East and West Rajasthan and very heavy rains at some places. The situation is also quite serious in Uttar Pradesh. There is a possibility of heavy rain in several districts of West Uttar Pradesh on July 30 and 31. Heavy rain is expected in Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Saharanpur, Bijnor, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura, Agra, Moradabad, Rampur, Amroha, Sambal and Bareilly. In addition, light to moderate rain is likely in the capital Lucknow, Sitapur, Barabanki, Ayodhya, Gonda, Bahraich, Sravasti, Balrampur, Basti, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Kushinagar, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Mirzapur and Sonbhadra. The weather has also started changing in Bihar. There is a possibility of heavy rain in various districts of Bihar from July 31 to August 4. During this period, strong winds with a speed of 30 to 40 kmph can blow and the risk of lightning cannot be ruled out. On the other hand, the Chardham Yatra has been completely disrupted due to incessant rains and landslides in Uttarakhand. Keeping in mind the safety of the common people, the administration has ordered the suspension of the Chardham Yatra for the time being.
