Bibhash Lodh, BS News Agency: The four superpowers France, Spain, England and Argentina have reached the semi-finals of the World Cup. All four teams are former world champions, as well as being in the top four of the FIFA rankings. However, France is in a different position than everyone else in this last four battle. Didier Deschamps' team has won every match so far in this World Cup. Not only that, all their victories have come within the stipulated 90 minutes. No extra time or tiebreaker was needed in any match. Only France has achieved such a feat among the four semi-finalists. Spain was also in great form throughout the tournament, but they drew 0-0 against Cape Verde in the group stage. Except for that match, all their victories came within the stipulated time. England was also undefeated, but drew with Ghana in the group stage. Later, they had to play extra time to beat Norway in the quarter-finals.
On the other hand, defending champions Argentina won all their group and early knockout matches in 90 minutes, but had to play an extra 30 minutes to beat Switzerland in the quarter-finals. Overall, all four teams in the last four are in great form, but only France has won every match within the stipulated time so far and reached the semi-finals. This consistency puts the French further ahead as one of the title contenders.
