Prabhsukhan Singh Gill has stood as East Bengal FC’s guardian between the posts, making 90 appearances for the Red & Gold Brigade since 2023.
This marks his fourth season with the club, during which he has already secured three major domestic titles: the 2023-24 Super Cup, the 2025-26 Indian Super League (ISL), and the 135th edition of the prestigious Durand Cup in 2026. In addition to these triumphs, he earned silver medals in the 2023 Durand Cup, the 2025 IFA Shield, and the 2025 Super Cup.
The Punjab-born goalkeeper, who signed a two-season contract extension with East Bengal in June, has earned a call-up to the Indian national team for the upcoming international friendlies against Panama, Brazil, and Uruguay. Previously part of the Indian squad at the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup and captain of the U-23 national team, Gill is yet to make his senior national team debut. The 2021-22 ISL Golden Glove winner is determined to make the most of this opportunity and replicate his domestic success on the international stage.
Speaking to the East Bengal FC Media Team ahead of the club’s AFC Champions League Two group stage opener against Al-Hussein in Jordan, Gill reflected on his journey and expressed gratitude to the East Bengal management and fans for their unwavering support. Here are excerpts from the conversation:
*On his journey with East Bengal...*
"My journey at East Bengal has been quite remarkable. As a team, we have experienced many ups and downs together. My first season was a mixed bag; we lost the 2023 Durand Cup final and endured a rough start to the ISL. However, we won the Super Cup that season and qualified for AFC continental competitions, ending the club's 12-year wait for a national trophy.
The following season proved tougher as we navigated a long winless streak. Yet, we stuck together as a unit and recovered from the setback, narrowly missing out on a top-six spot in the ISL. All these experiences inspired us to excel across every tournament in the 2025-26 season. We reached the finals of the IFA Shield and the Super Cup before ultimately winning the Indian Super League. We are continuing this strong momentum this season by qualifying for the AFC Champions League Two Group Stage and winning the Durand Cup."

"That stoppage-time save to deny Jamie Maclaren in the ISL derby will always hold a special place in my heart. It was entirely instinctive, so my sole focus was on keeping the ball out. Afterward, seeing how the fans celebrated made me realize the true significance of that contribution to our ISL triumph. Several fans urged me to get the moment inked on my leg. I was hesitant at first, but when my mother insisted, I went ahead with it. The fans love the tattoo, and it will be the only one I ever get because that moment was extraordinary. People even compare the save to Emiliano Martinez’s famous stop in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final. It's such a special compliment for me!"

"At East Bengal, true to our legacy, we strive to win every tournament we enter, and the 2026 Durand Cup was no exception. Despite losing our opening match (the derby)—which both sides played with barely any preparation—we remained thoroughly consistent throughout the tournament and dominated the final. My penalty save against SC Delhi during regulation time and the subsequent stop in the shootout were important, but I view it simply as my duty. As the last line of defense, I need to bail my team out in tough situations, and I am glad I could deliver."
