Today, Tuesday, Justice Saugata Bhattacharya ordered that two police personnel should be deployed for her security whenever Mahua goes to her parliamentary constituency. The High Court said that this step is to prevent harassment and attacks on the Trinamool MP.
The Kalighat pro-Trinamool MP had alleged that whenever she goes to her parliamentary constituency, Krishnanagar, she is surrounded and protested. Egg therapy is going on. Go back slogans are being raised, due to which she is suffering from lack of security. Based on Mahua's petition, the Calcutta High Court has ordered security for the Trinamool MP for the next one month. A complaint was filed against Mahua at the Hogalberia police station in Nadia on charges of hurting religious sentiments due to her burqa remark. In that case, an arrest warrant was issued against the Trinamool MP on the orders of the Krishnanagar District Court. Although the Calcutta High Court has stayed that order for the time being. Although Mahua has been given a condition that she will have to go to the Hogalberia police station and cooperate in the investigation. Mahua alleged that whenever she goes to the police station to appear for the investigation of that case, she faces protests. She is even unable to do any work in her parliamentary constituency. On this day, the Krishnanagar MP's lawyer Kalyan Banerjee told the court, "Whenever I go to my Lok Sabha constituency, protests are being shown around my client. Politically motivated chaos is being created. As a result, the MP is not able to work for the common people. Whenever I go to my constituency, eggs, potatoes, and stones are being thrown at my client. Security is being provided to MPs who have recently left Trinamool and joined other parties. And we are being attacked.' After the arguments, Justice Saugata Bhattacharya said, 'It is not right to attack any MP. The state should deal with the matter strictly. It should be ensured that the MP does not face any obstacles in his/her work in his/her constituency.' The case will be heard again on October 1.
