BS News Agency: As the preparations for the upcoming 2027 Punjab Assembly elections begin, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, launched an all-out attack against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The entire state politics is in a state of turmoil with this extremely sharp arrow from the opposition leader from the stage of the huge 'Insaf Rally' organized in Sangrur. Claiming that 'AAP' came to power on a false promise to make Punjab drug-free, Rahul alleged that eradicating drugs is far from being done - the Chief Minister of the state himself is immersed in intoxication day and night!"Drinking alcohol is his personal matter, but..." Rahul's sarcastic attack on Mann
Recalling his Lok Sabha experience, Rahul Gandhi made an unprecedented explosive comment against Bhagwant Mann. He said,
“When I used to sit with him in the Lok Sabha, he could smell the strong smell of alcohol by 11 am! I am not saying that he will not drink alcohol, that is his personal decision. But if you really want to make the state drug-free, the Chief Minister of the state cannot be intoxicated every evening. Punjab needs a leader who understands the terrible pain of this addiction.” “Chief Minister is a puppet in the hands of Shah and Kejriwal!”
Criticizing the current administrative system in Punjab, the Congress leader claimed that the elected Chief Minister of the state is actually sitting in a nominal position.
Delhi’s remote control: “Currently, half of the power of Punjab is in the hands of Home Minister Amit Shah, and the other half is in the pocket of Arvind Kejriwal. Mann is just sitting as a spectator! Punjab cannot be run from Delhi anymore.”
Tough challenge to the central government: Targeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the central promise to eliminate drugs within three years, Rahul said, "Amit Shah is giving a three-year deadline! I clearly feel that the central government is not even a year old. After three years, Amit Shah will not be the Home Minister." Industry and employment are the only way
Rahul recalled that many years ago, he first warned about the rise of drugs in Punjab, which was dismissed by the BJP or the Akali Dal at that time. He made it clear that it is not possible to stop drugs and gangster culture through strict police action alone if the youth are not provided with factories, jobs and a strong agricultural system.
In the 2022 elections, AAP won 92 out of 117 seats, while the Congress was stuck in only 18 seats. However, looking ahead to the 2027 elections, it goes without saying that Rahul Gandhi's explosive strategy has pushed AAP to the back foot.
