Basically, after the formation of the BJP government in the state, illegal constructions have been demolished in some places, and hawkers are being evicted in others. State politics is in full swing over this. Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took to the streets today keeping this issue in mind. Hawkers have been evicted in several other places besides the areas adjacent to various stations. Of course, the common people also protested against this. However, according to the court's order, no new eviction notices can be implemented till June. It has also been said that several other issues should be investigated before eviction. On this day, lawyer Vikas Ranjan Bhattacharya told the court that fundamental rights have been violated by eviction. Thousands of people are making a living by running their businesses on pushcarts and in huts. Therefore, it cannot be the government's job to increase pressure on them. But everything is being demolished by sending bulldozers. He appealed for alternative arrangements before eviction.
On this day, the judge asked, what if they occupy the railway space and platform and set up shops? Has anyone with a license been evicted? In response, Vikas Ranjan said that in many cases, people are being evicted from the platform and railway tracks because of passenger complaints. Along with this, the issue of the license of the shop in Baruipur came up. On this, the judge said that out of 40 families, only two have licenses. However, the railway will decide on this. And an eviction notice has been given in Dankuni, about 1 km away from the station.
In this regard, the railway has informed that in 1881, they were given a notice to deposit the minimum price to buy that land. No one has deposited it till date. On this day, the judge said that the railway will first have to identify its own place. Those places will have to be physically inspected.
