Sanchita Chatterjee, BS News Agency: Amit Banerjee and Lata Banerjee—parents of Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee—have moved the Calcutta High Court, challenging a notice issued by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC).
The couple asserts that their residence, located at 29-C Harish Chatterjee Street in Kolkata, was constructed in a completely legal manner, and that the Corporation issued an erroneous notice by alleging illegal construction.
The petition seeks the quashing of the municipal corporation's notice. The matter is likely to be heard on Wednesday by a vacation bench of the Calcutta High Court. Recently, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation had issued several notices regarding Abhishek Banerjee and various properties associated with him.
