Not just a trophy, this time there will be a special ring for the world champions

Bibhash Lodh, BS News Agency: FIFA is going to start a new tradition for the first time at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The winning team will be given a special championship ring or ring along with the trophy and gold medal. This initiative has been inspired by the popular sports culture of the United States. Although such a ring was previously given to the NFL Super Bowl winning team, this is the first time it is being introduced in a FIFA competition. The symbolic ring will be presented to the captain and head coach of the winning team on the award ceremony stage after the World Cup final between Argentina and Spain at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on July 20.

FIFA will make a total of 2,026 rings. Of these, 30 will be for the players, coaching staff and related parties of the world champion team. The remaining 1,996 will be sold as a limited edition to football fans around the world. Each championship ring will have the design of the World Cup trophy on one side, and the identity of the winning team on the other side. Each ring made for the winners will be individually numbered and will be specially made according to the size of the finger of the person concerned and will be officially handed over later. It will also be accompanied by a certificate. Thus, from the 2026 World Cup, a new commemorative championship ring is being added to the list of honors of champions, along with trophies and medals.
