It is believed that Ravi Kumar, a member of the 2022 Under-19 World Cup-winning Indian cricket team, is accused of the crime. According to the CAB records, he has made a 45-month age discrepancy. Under-19 pacer Ravi Kumar played a major role in the West Indies' victory in the World Cup. Ravi took 4 wickets against England in the final. Then he made his debut for the Bengal team in 2023. He also took 5 wickets in five T20 matches. The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has banned 62 cricketers, including Ravi Kumar, from registration and transfer for two seasons (2026-27 and 2027-28) for age fraud.
Bengal leg-spinner Rohit Yadav is on the list of those punished for age fraud. The cricketer was selected for the Indian Under-19 team for the series against Australia a few weeks ago. Rohit is originally from Uttar Pradesh. He had earlier toured Sri Lanka for the Under-19 team in July. He was instrumental in India's victory in the final Test of that tour. He took 6 wickets in that private Test. He was included in the Under-19 India team for the ODIs and other matches against the Under-19 Australia team to be held in Rajkot and Ahmedabad later this month.
According to BBCI sources, he has been banned for two years for age fraud. According to the BCCI report, Rohit's age discrepancy was found during the verification of the information during the Sri Lanka tour. Surprisingly, Rohit has three birth certificates. In which the year of birth is 2007, 2009, 2010. Due to this discrepancy, he is not eligible to play in age-based competitions.
The CAB has taken strict action in the interest of the development and transparency of the state and Indian cricket after catching a group of cricketers for age fraud.
